International Mapping is pleased to announce its acquisition of Equator Graphics Incorporated located in Silver Spring, Maryland. The acquisition of EGI blends two custom mapping firms that have traditionally targeted sectors of the market that place a premium on quality design work and high-end digital production. As a result of this acquisition, we will supplement our international clientele with EGI’s client base of Federal agencies, domestic textbook publishers, and travel publications. |
| Alex Tait, President of EGI, founded the company in 1992 to provide custom digital mapping services to clients primarily located in the greater Washington, DC region. At International Mapping, Alex will serve as Chief Cartographer and Director of Business Development. In this capacity he will play an active role marketing the combined strengths of both companies and serve as a client liaison with contracts involving the Federal Government. |

| International Mapping Finalizes Reseller Agreement with Solid Terrain Modeling |
Under a new agreement with Solid Terrain Modeling (STM), International Mapping will become an authorized reseller of all STM products and services. This agreement couples our expertise in digital map design and production with STM’s revolutionary model manufacturing process. The results are 3D models that are as aesthetically pleasing as they are accurate in detail. |
| STM’s new manufacturing process utilizes digital elevation data to control highly-calibrated cutting and painting machines that are capable of producing precise 3D models. The models are cut into high-density foam and then painted with detailed color raster images, producing lifelike replicas of the earth that were previously impossible to achieve. |
| Please see terrain models in our portfolio under the “International Boundary Consulting” (here) and “Displays and Exhibits” (here) sections. |
